Our THON family:
The Grindles

They live in York, Pennsylvania. Sean is 9 and his brother, Adam, is 14. Their parents, Melissa and Zane, are both Penn State alumni and were involved in THON during their time here! They are both teachers. In their free time, the Grindles enjoy hiking, biking, and camping!

Sean was diagnosed with leukemia in July of 2021 and rang the bell in November of 2023. Sean has been in remission since!

Our THON Family Update:

In November, Sean had a big accomplishment on the field and won his division in soccer. BWS members got to spend time with the family in a more laid-back way by playing online Jeopardy together over Zoom. It was a fun way to stay connected and still feel involved even when we couldn't meet in person.

In December, we had a packed weekend with the Grindles. We hosted a Christmas movie watch party, went to support Adam at his half marathon, and spent the rest of the day at Family Carnival, THON's annual fall event to celebrate our Four Diamond families. Between celebrating milestones and getting time together, it's been a busy stretch and we're looking forward to more family events soon!​
